Default NADA......a true comedic publication....

Selling a beautiful boat in superb condition from the early 90's, highly maintained and upgraded. Like many of you, I'm going bigger (BBS=bigger boat syndrome). I know what it's worth, several potential buyers know what it's worth and have offered accordingly. So how in the hell do you nicely tell inquiries that NADA for boats is as relevant as the U.S. Constitution is to Obama? I've had a few that seemingly think it's a Bible for boat values.
Arrghh......

BTW, out of curiousity I did run my boat through the NADA site, not only did it state the value was based on a fair condition needing some improvements, it also had the specifications completely off from the original factory ones.
Funny thing is, out of all the boats I've looked at over the years, I never even considered looking at the NADA, never figured it was relevant.

Unfortunately that's all the banks want to use. Agree or disagree that's the way it is...

Banks use what ever they want to, when they want. Last boat I bought I printed NADA out with 500 HP since that is all it can have???? Boat I was buying had factory 600s and website said 135K no trailer. Went to get loan bank told me it was worth 110K with trailer. Bought boat anyways but I learned banks do what they want. Banker told me "they have a different NADA that only banks can use"

Looked up my boat or at least close as NADA could get 22,000 max value. Dont know of any that sold that low in price mabe just the hull.

There is another way to check a boats value dont remember the publication think one has to purchase it.

Our bank went off of our survey which listed a value based on equipment and condition as well as comparable boats for sale.

Turbo,

Many banks use the BUC book or NADA guide, probably choose based on their needs.

I have always viewed NADA pricing as wishful thinking as in I wish I could get that number for my boat!

The truth of the matter boils down to with NADA price listings is if you are buying or selling. I am sure if you are buying at the price listings then maybe no complaints. Dealers and banks go by it a lot especially dealers buying at the wholesale marine auctions.

Next book a lot of marine dealers and marine surveyors go by is ABOS
