Default bravo magnum vs hp gimbal

I decided to put my hp conversion gimbal on eBay and was looking at comps ,and saw a lot of the ole mag gimbals listed as hp .
Then realized that I haven't seen squat about the magnum gimbal which should still be a improvement over the std while still allowing the use of conventional or original senders .and does anybody have any opinions on weather the gimbal ring steering pin opening of the new style is better than the original casting or just a cost cutting move ?

Had the mags listed been converted? What years were the mags and HP the same?
I don't have much to offer, but I'll be following replies, as I'd like to learn more. I just bought a new HP transom assembly to replace my bravo transom assembly to provide some extra integrity for a land and sea stern jack installation. It seemed like the cost to get the assembled unit was near the cost to buy the parts (pin and gimbal ring) and modify my existing transom assembly. I was due for bellows work anyways, and the old assembly needed to be removed to recore the transom...

Havent been much deeper into it but on the older bravo you have your std gimbal and bell then the mag which has the hp style lower outer thrust surface castings in front of the hydraulic ram pin opening but still uses conventional bellhousing pins that thread into the bellhousing and use the std elec senders
then you have the 2 or 3 hp variations , the originals, which i have look alot like a magnum gimbal ring , but are threaded for stainless side pins that fit a hp bell at a different pattern ( closer and at a different angle) than the magnum gimbal. It is said off the record that these offer greater wear resistance at the swivel shaft area than the later version with 8 hinge pin mounting screws.now that the latest hp gimbal rings have been out for a while i figured it was time for some new feedback.also in my opinion alot of people on ebay are buying magnum gimbals thinking they are getting the high performance pieces

My research showed what yours did. It's a HP gimble ring and helmet, but with the standard bravo hinge pins. From what I can tell these Magnum assemblies where used more on the diesel stuff. Otherwise all the other parts are interchangeable. I'm purchasing a HP gimble assembly to rebuild mine replacing both upper and lower steering pins but getting the stronger HP hinge pins and gimble ring.
