Manatee River/Inlets
#1
Happy New Year all! Wondering if anyone can give me some color on the Manatee River/Inlets community- wife and I are making big move from Canada down south shortly. Specifically I am wondering does the Manatee River have speed zones on the way out to the gulf and does anyone have experience in the Inlets community?
thanks all!

Near the bridges it is no wake but most of it is open throttle out to the Gulf.

I Spent a lot of time looking around that area. They have some homes that are on "Fresh" water canals requiring you to use a lift, that puts you into the salt canal and out.. PITA.
The other canal homes seem pretty nice and you are very close to I75. Makes it quick to get to Tampa, St Pete or to head south. I thought it would have been a good place, and you go right by Tarpon Point grille on the way in and out. The marina there said they give a small discount on gas to residents.
There is the small chance if a train is going across the river that you would have to wait for it to pass, but I never have seen a train on those tracks.
We looked at several places around there that have homes on canals, let me know what others you are thinking of, I believe I have been all of them!

Lived across from them basically in Wellington off 301. A lot of the canals are fresh water with sling lift. Be a size limit they could sling over cannot remember the size. Others are salt/brackish water. Very nice development. They have a private launch ramp, and some of the houses can be bought not on water but with water rights/dock. Watched em as they started to build the area and grow. Quick Run down the river and out to the gulf ride is simple. Was there 3yrs and never delt with the train bridge being down.. Their location is great for the highway and such. Quicker to run that than down 41 to downtown Sarasota..

Thanks JPD for the info! We are hoping to be down by early feb. My office is just off bee ridge so thought this would be great area to commute and still have great boating. Question- how long do u think it takes to go inkers out to the gulf? At a reasonable speed

Not long at all. Not sure where/what "inkers" area is but pretty much anything along or near the main river channel is fast easy access to the Gulf.
All the best islands to relax at too are near that area of the gulf too. It is a nice location for sure.

Hey Keven,
Do you mean Bee ridge road in Sarasota? there are also places down there but they can get real pricey quick. Not sure what you budget is and if you think you want to stay in Bradenton but here are a couple other places.
Rivera Dunes, very nice gated property some homes have pools some don't. They have 2 or 3 public pools, and I think a restaurant on site.

This area is in Palmetto,,,,,,,,,,, yea I know (don't bang on me Nate
) but it is by itself and doesn't take anytime to get to the river front in Bradenton. The homes can be older or some newer, but great water.

Cortez is another, the homes on the south side of the road are much nicer then the north side. Traffic can be a real Bit*h on weekends as everyone wants to get to Anna maria island. But if you go out to the beaches there you can understand why. Close to open water, Cortez also has a new (well fairly new) high and dry right by the bridge.
