Default Mark IV engine re-build

I know this has been gone over quite a few times, but none of the threads I have been following have addressed the build I am thinking of doing. The boat is an 88 Scarab Excel 28.

After careful thought, I will be overboring my block by .030 and installing Wiseco pistons and K1 rods on a stock Mag crank in a 4 bolt block. I will be using Gil exhaust with Hardin Marine aluminum wet risers. I've sourced Morel 4603 lifters and Scorpion 1.7 rockers. I have a line on a rebuilt set of 188 heads with a matching roller cam for a good price, but I'm rethinking going to aluminum and a 500efi cam. Used parts are the order of business.

What are your thoughts and who has parts.

Thanks

I've got 4603 lifters. Sounds like a good rebuild. The 500efi cam is a nice piece esp for the budget minded. There are a lot of aluminum heads out there that are much better than the 188's. Maybe a set of the afr oval ports if you don't have plans to go bigger cubes or more power later.

everything you are listing is durable. you could do better but only at astronomical money. what cam is matching the 188 heads? and how good is the price? cuz the added advantage of close to 100 lbs taken out of the back of the boat by going alum exhaust-heads-intake is worth some speed right there. ( means you can carry 1 more spinner sized skank without slowing you down till it is time to remove her bikini) plus you can carry 1 more point of compression ratio with alum heads. so don't order pistons till you have head material and chamber size dialed in...and Jamie's stuff and prices are good...
