My GF is from Thailand so I've been there twice & seen the passenger versions of those boats. They're called long tail boats & normally have a diesel engine on the direct drive long tail shaft. The engine is on a hinge or pivot w/ some sort of counterweight b/c they lean on the throttle & it raises the tail out of the water w/ ease.

Totally looks safe to me!

Not sure if Hering or BBlades is building the props for them.
