Hello Folks
I'm in the process of building a classic runabout wooden boat 29' feet long. Searching for the jack shaft components for a Mercury Marine outdrive. Can anybody help with some or all parts?
Thanks, Jim

Ayuh,.... I don't believe the jack-shaft driveline cares which motor is ahead of it, nor which drive is behind it,.....
The forward assembly has to mount to the motor, 'n if Chevy based power, they'll all interchange,....
The aft connection is standard Merc rear motor mount/ transom mountin' patterned,....

Yes the forward assembly mounts to a standard velvet-drive style housing, But the rear mounts to the inner transom plate. The older drives have a different plate than the newer. And I am pretty sure all that is available today is the later style tailstock.
Actually now that I think about it I am pretty sure you could use the new inner on an older drive if you have to. In any case you can fins the pieces here:

I have a 305 SBC with a Alpha drive. I did come across a complete kit someone has. The kit has a bell housing for a big block... will that fit my 305 ?? I'm thinking it will. Your thoughts ???
