Default Is there a new Mercury SBC coming soon?

Is the best offering they have at this point, still just a 320 HP 6.2L? They offered that much power back in the eighties. Today Volvo offers a 430 HP 6.0L sterndrive package, so what gives?

IMO, Indmar has a nice handle on the small block market with both LS and Coyote platforms with over 500 hp and multi year warranties. Merc either gave up a few years ago or is just flat out asleep at the wheel. Even if they unveiled an LS platform at Miami, they would still be playing catchup. Sure they spent a bunch of time and money prototyping some whacked out overhead cam heads for an ls, but why??? basically a worthless endeavor as the LS easily encroaches on entry level big block power levels with currently avail, off the shelf parts,

yep, Indmar offerings are quite nice with a 570hp SC version of the LS for somewhere in the mid/upper teens price wise. They have a mid 400hp non SC version that was like eleven or twelve thousand, both with warranty. Its doubtful Merc will be able to raise the failure rate of the LS platform enough for it to fit their business model, i wouldnt look for one anytime soon.

Couple years ago there was a guy on the west coast building a 38 Excel Scarab with LS's anyone know what ever happened with it?

I'm curious, how does Merc have such a strangle hold on the smaller builders that they don't touch these engines?

Indmar is not selling and will not sell their engine packages to the I/O builders. They strictly want to stay with the wakeboard builders. Indmar engines & performance torque curves are not made for the I/O apps. persay, the engines torque curves are made to pull your arms out socket for towsports and mainly operated 90% of time under 42 mph. I am talking about Indmar directly and Indmar only here. Not their sister company who has a 5.7- 350 bobtail for an engine replacement.

Volvo Penta is half LS version engines already. When the old time 5.7L - 350 goes away they will be 100 % all LS based. I have already seen and test driven their LS version engines and test driven the new to release LS - V-6- 4.3L. That engine the Volvo LS V-6 (GM based) will give the Merc 5.7 - 350 HO mag a run for its money.

The new centurian wake boat with the supercharged 550hp motor pulls that 24' boat to 45mph .thats without the ballast filled or a full load of people .the triple axle trailer with triple disc brakes alone probably cost more than my first corvette

They've addressed the BBC and V6 situations with their own versions, so you'd think they have something in the works that would grunt out 400 HP without weighing 1250 lbs.

I'd bet they haven't "tuned" the torque curves in any meaningful way. In fact I'd bet they all stock cams.
