I have been starting my search for my next boat, (moving up from a beautiful riding Formula 242ls) and the ones I've been most looking at are the Scarab 31 Excels, 1992 & newer Formula 303 & 311s, and the Scarab 29s. I'm pretty dead set on wanting twins, so I'd probably pass on the Scarab 29s with a single, but my real question is, it seems like everything I'm reading on the power combos in these particular Scarabs is the top speed seems to kinda stop increasing pretty much around 70. Weather it be a stock single BBC, built single bbc, stock twin SBCs, or built twin SBCs... are these boats to heavy for single big blocks/twin small blocks? Do they have a hook in the hull? Or am I just not getting enough data? I'm really liking the 31s, but There are some great deals on the 29s so I'm just trying to stay open minded, but I will Definately be wanting to add power in the future so it's something I'd like to be educated about before I purchase. Any info is always greatly appreciated! Thanks guys!

I have a 31 excel with twins. I have had the boat to 75mph gps with a full tank 150 gallons and 2 people driving into the wind. I have 3 blade 25 pitch props on it for the hole shot. With less fuel and 2 people with a 4 blade prop it is close to 79mph gps. The hull rides and handles great!

Well, coming from my Donzi 26ZX, I was able to ride on Jamie's Scarab at the gratton new years run and it was an impressive ride! Plenty of torque out of the hole and the ride was smooth and stable....... My next boat will very similar in size and twins for sure! TBF
