Default please, please warn all your friends....

small jet boat 14' (Sea Doo) on Monday out wave jumping behind a big cruiser... he was headed north, rips out from behind the back of a cruiser w/o checking traffic. Head on's my buddy's 42' Fountain. I guess it was pretty graphic. The DOC only found what was left from the waste down - must have got thrown under the boat and props...

friend and wife were A-OK. 14' is going to lose to 42' every time. I know what will happen now though- there will be a huge crack down by the water police. I bet more than a few mishaps occurred on land this weekend, but you won't here about those . Just another case of bad judgement

Audiofn,

Don't have all the details yet, but I believe the DOC found the jet boater at fault (pretty obviously). I guess there were quite a few witnesses. I just wonder if my friend will quit boating all together now...

I'm quite sure this has been going on for a while, but we just didn't hear about it as much before these kinds of internet forums started coming along. We're most likely going to hear about it more being that this is a public forum geared towards boat related issues, but I also think that as watersports grow (and it IS growing) that these accidents are increasing and going to continue to increase as time goes on. It's sad, but more is on the way!

Where did this accident take place?---What lake?

I was saddened to hear about this. It's been over a year since we've had a local fatality. Not surprised though, there's jet boats all over the river.

I feel really bad for the Fountain owner. He's a nice guy and a responsible, seasoned boater. Some things you just can't avoid.
