Default flywheel, from bravo to a transmision

If you have a motor that is set up to bolt up to a bravo, what if anything has to be done to the flywheel to bolt it up to the bell housing for a transmission? Another words the motor would be going from a bravo set up to a speedmaster set up.

the flywheel needs to be machined to accept the ring gear on the back side of the wheel, reverse from the standard bravo setup.you might find one in the swap shop.

most bbc flywheels have both cuts on it (ring gear will need to be removed and installed on the other side.)I have left the starter down low on a couple of transmission equipped set ups. Then use the block off plate from CP perf. to cover top mount starter hole.

You can do the ring gear in a regular house oven (as long as the wife isnt home ). Heat ring gear with reg propane torch ( only a min or two ) tap ring gear off with hammer and wood block or flat chisel if your careful (comes off pretty easy , have done without heat ). Clean ring gear surface thoroughly . Cool flywheel in ice or fridge . Heat ring gear in oven ( may make at little smoke if not clean ). Grab ring gear with oven mits and drop on flywheel .It should drop on till it bottoms very easily ( no tools required ) . As simple as it sounds , takes about 1/2 hour. Most clutch shops do it reasonably. GOOD LUCK!!!!

Then you will need a different starter. Not just the nose. The starter turns the other way.
