Question What would be the best class to race a 24' Pantera

It's funny after searching for a nice 28 i have been thinking of getting a project boat as well. I would like to build one with the intention of racing and poker run. What I envision is some thing like the previous race hulls (No Limit and Plum Loco), A 24 sport with 3 man bolster or 2 man, maybe even 4 man bolster like the six pack but just 4 a quad pack lol, put a short (about half size engine hatch) with a 24" standoff box and twin 200 power or even thinking twin Merc 250 efi 3.0L engines. Engine package wise would want something that is reliable and not have to rebuild every 100-300 hours.

Thoughts, Opinions, lets discuss, Kinda bored here at home while its -6 degrees out side dreaming of summer,LOL

I wish there was some kind of "sportsman" type amateur racing I could participate in with mine.

Class six would probably be the class.
What happened to the black one that someone was finishing as a race boat and never did finish it.

Combat zone, formerly no limits, now somewhere in jersey. Make it a sit down boat. No way to make those a comfortable stand up and look good. He'll sitting comfortably I still felt high up in that boat!

Yeah I just read that thread. its a nice boat a lot of time and $$$ to bring it back, hopefully the new owners are members here. That would be a cool boat. Any one run out boards any more in racing?

It doesn't need much $$ now. We spent a ton of time and money on it.

Class 6 i thought was a single engine class. 7 is a single outboard class i think 23 and under. With twin engines i think you just outclassed yourself. Hafta wee wee with the big dogs...

Yeah looks like (OPA) class 4 is the when twin engine starts, class 500 is single up to 30', and class 6 is 26' single. How much of an HP out board would it take to get to a max speed of 70-75?

Sounds like a cool project. You may want to ask around about Panteras with twins, I do remember reading on the Superboat page that 24's with twin outboards were a handful to drive due to the center of gravity or something like that
