Default 454 cracked from freezing. heads crack too? always? sometimes? never?

bought a neglected arriva for the bravo setup. block cracked, manifolds cracked. do the heads survive, or usually die in this circumstance. they are probably peanuts anyway. just wondering if they were 100 dollar heads or 8 dollar heads at 10 cents a pound.

Pop off the intake. If the water passages are dry there may be a chance they lived.

Pull valve covers identify casting numbers and rock on bro . But remember 2 piece 4 bolt main caps which you may have , and 8 quart gen any pan have suprising value and easy pickings with the motor dumped on its head

Had a couple blocks freeze up a few years back. Cracked above the lifter galleys and rnext to the freeze plugs on both sides. Blocks were junk but heads were fine.

GM should make freeze plugs out of paper mâché or PVC. I think I've actually seen three in my life time that actually suited their purpose. Lol
