Hello I have a question and hope this is the right forum. I am looking at a used 26 foot Wellcraft Excalibur boat boat that has a 575 HP Dimarco engine (509 cu in and is carbureted) that has 4-6 hours on it. My question is does anyone have any info on the engines? Also if I remove the engine and install the original 502 does anyone have an idea what this engine might be worth. This information will determine if I purchase the boat or walk away from it.
Thanks in advance

Just asking is he an in house engine builder or a lot of his stuff sent out for machining an assembly ie: Long block sent back to him to finish the assembly ?.
Seen some rigging stuff, engine rigging stuff of his plus painted engines that were done by him. All of that was fine but a few odds and ends I would have changed and done differently. Things for example, I do not like fuel and oil lines with L adaptor connectors.
Next crimped wire terminals not heat shrinked. I do not like Merc water fuel separator filters either. I am not saying this as a dog, the majority of his work seemed good as well. The complete engine building part of it, I am not sure it is all done in house.

Thanks for all of the info, the engine builder is in Delaware so right now I am completely confused. You said crate engines start at 9000 so does that mean the engine in the boat now is only worth that much.

No. The used one in your boat with no warranty is probably only worth 6-7K.
