We are allowing teams made up of four boats, to compete in a rally covering the same 271 miles around Long Island, but the distance will be split up between the four boats..
Boat number 1 will start with the other boats at Port Washington and race to Port Jefferson, where it will hand off the baton to Boat number 2.
Boat number 2 will race around Montauk Point to Shinnecock Inlet, on the ocean side of the island and hand off the baton to Boat number 3
Boat number 3 will race from Shinnecock to the Verazzano Bridge where it will hand the baton to Boat number 4.
Boat number 4 will race from the Verazzano Bridge to the finish line at Port Washington.
Maximum length is 55 length and minimum length is 18 feet.
Any combination of 4 boats may be used, cats, deep vees, tri hulls, etc.to form one team.

THANK YOU TO THOSE COMPETITORS THAT HAVE TAKEN ADVANTAGE OF THE DISCOUNTED EARLY ENTRY FEE AND HAVE SENT IN YOUR ENTRY AND CHECK!.
MARCH 1ST IS SUNDAY, WHICH IS THE DEADLINE FOR THE DISCOUNT.
IF YOU WANT TO ENTER AND ARE RUNNING LATE, SEND US AN PM HERE AND AS LONG AS WE GET YOUR CHECK AND ENTRY FORM WITHIN 7 DAYS, YOU GET THE DISCOUNT.
'
This is what we have so far from interested parties. 34 boats total
We have had a couple of phone calls from other people, who are teaming up to put a boat together and split the costs, but until they give us an OK that they are coming, they are left off the board.
As entry forms and fees are received, we will fill in the other data.... such as engine size and type of drive and whether they will need fuel or have to stop and refuel.

There is a reason why we are using the BENIHANA as our Avatar here.
The restoration has begun. The boat is now at Innovation Marine in Sarasota and HORBA along with INNOVATION will manage the full restoration and hopefully the boat will be at the Around Long Island Race in August.
Many photos will record the restoration over the next few months.

There is only 5 months and 22 days left now before the race and the rally.
Just to clarify that point........
There will be two different events going on at the same time:.....August 22, 2015
1.) A non stop race of 271 miles. It will start and end at Port Washington on the North side of the island. All boats will cover the full distance of the 271 miles..
2.) A Rally of 271 miles. This will be run by different teams of boats. Each team will be made up of four boats, Each boat will cover 1/4 of the distance and hand over a "Baton" at the end of each leg to the next boat.
The first boat will start with the start of the non stop race boats.
There will be different trophies and awards for each event and there will be different "Records" for each event.

Had a call today from a race competitor that wanted to know if the race would be run regardless of weather, he is sending his entry form and check in..... but wanted to double check before he puts it in the mail.. He is running a 46 foot Skater.
Of course it will be, this is old school racing and runs on the day every time. He wants to run the following week at the shootout and didn't want to haul all the way to New York, if the weather would force a cancellation on the date scheduled.
Told him the story of the drivers meeting at on old Miami to Nassau race in the 70's that Red Crise used to run. Behind Red could be seen the Small Craft Warning flags blowing straight out from the pole. Richie Powers raises his hand and asks Red if the race would be postponed or shortened because of the Small Craft warning Flags. Red who is standing with his back to the flags say...."I don't see any flags, the race is on."
The race and the rally are both going to be run on August 22nd. We look forward to seeing both race and rally competitors there on that day.
DON'T FORGET TO TELL YOUR SPONSORS, YOU WILL E COMPETING IN THE NEW YORK METRO AREA. There are millions of eyes that will see their sponsorship message on your boat.
