Default car opinion's on Jaguar x-type 4.0

No not for me, not my style at all.

A friend of mine is looking at getting a new x-type 4.0 with the sport package or some crap like that. I'm the car guy in my group, and I really dont like Jag's so I dont know much about them. Anybody have/had one and how are they for daily drivers, are they in the shop all the time with problems, or are they just great vehicles. A girl I know just got an x-type 3.0, but that was only a few weeks ago, so I really cant draw any opinions from that yet. He is all over the board with what he wants, and this is one of his maybees in his list. Thanks in advance, now fire away!

Nice looking car. Beware of the crappy, chintzy, plastic Ford switch gear out of a Lincoln LS on the center stack and elsewhere in the interior. I looked at one for my wife and was not impressed. Get a 3 series BMW for about the same $$$$.

Don't know much about the x-type, but my dad has an s-type. It's a great looking car, but it still has annoying rattles and squeeks and interior imperfections that should not be found on a $48,000 plus car. If your friend wants all wheel drive luxury and performance, I'd lean towards an Audi S-4. Just my .02.

They fit and finish of the car is anything but desirable...I have worked on a few of them(putting in cellular hands free systems) and was not impressed at ALL by the quality. There are MANY ford parts in the cars now, and on 2 different occations i found paint flaws in the car, one actually had a run in the paint! The older jags are put together better The car has never been known for its fit and finish but it has gotten worse. From my point of view as I dont own any luxury car I would go into a benz or a beemer... they seem to be put together better overall.
