Looking for a new Garmin 7608 xsv and GT40 Transducer. I know they are new but all I see on the web is the Retail price of 2199.99, there has to be somewhere I can get a better deal.

I was introduced to the Garmin 7608 at a recent boat show. Have you had Garmin before? I know nothing about a boat GPS but the 7608 seems to be a good one to go with. Can you tell me why your choosing this particular one and the GT450 transducer?
I would like to learn more.

IMHO, it seems to me that the garmin has the newest feature set and offers more for the money. I have also been informed by a lot of people that Garmin support is the best and their units fair very well. I like theirs maps better than what raymarine and simrad offer. I have been doing a lot of research and was about to buy a Simrad nss9 evo2 unit but then I looked at the newest garmin gpsmap series and thought it would be a better unit for me because of sonar capabilities and connection options (simrad is an add on wifi unit for 200.00). As far as the transducer goes that's what was recommended by garmin to take advantage of chirp, down vu, and side scan
