Looking at a CC that had #2's on it (now long gone) I have a set of TRS laying around, I know that #2's were longer drives

How much longer were the #2's and will the TRS still work well with the hull without moving the x dimension?

I will be canabalising one of my boats for this project as I have a complete driveline (TRS trans and Engines) for it

SSMII is 1" longer than TRS. Should work ok with 4 blades

TRS is stronger than SSMII as the SSMII had very weak lower pinion gears. Back in the day, it was pretty common to swap out Speedy II's with TRS. I've converted several Chris Cats from Speedy II's to Konrads. -Some of them were mounted pretty high also

As long as one doesnt fall in love with "bling" in the engine compartment it should be doable, Ive done it before and things turned out well and reasonable (hence using the TRS instead of IMCO's and all that jazz , black or blue paint is my friend LOL,,,,you are right, if you dont keep the clamp on the pocket book it will flow quite quickly

Next question, how much shorter are TRS from SSM3 drives?

Trying to figurt out how much to lower the engines if needed to run the TRS

or how much I need to lower to potentially run bravo's, if I did it this way then it takes me away from a budjet build (not in the plan) looking to just fart around on the water

SSM 3 is 24.311" input shaft to prop shaft

TRS 24.2"

Back in the 1980's when the Chris Cats first came out, they were originally equipped in base spec with TRS drives, and all were replaced at factory expense with Speedy II's. The TRS lowers couldn't handle the loads of surfacing and would basically "spit" the prop shafts due to carrier failures. So, basically I wouldn't go there as I would expect the same results! The Speedy II sits one inch lower, so you will have to raise the X by that much to properly surface the props or you will be giving up a bit of performance. Good luck!
