You would think they got the longblock from GM as they (GM) make the HT383 which is 340hp.
However, GM says they use a 3.80" stroke crank. Weird huh ? Supposedly they did this to get the piston closer to the block's deck height. Supposedly, too, this crank was made by Cola. Obviously, a forged steel crank.
Merc lists your motor as having the more typical 3.75" stroke crank used in most other 377/383's. Also listed as a forged steel crank.
So...since I have no valuable info...a good source here would be to contact BobL on this board, as I believe he has done a lot of stuff on the 6.2's, from upgrades, to performance rebuilds, to Whipple's, to heads, cams, and etc,etc,etc
