How important is hyd. steering? Looking at buying a boat with twin 454 mags it does not have hyd steering, is it necessary?
thanks

i feell hydrolic steering is one of the most important things/upgrades i ever did on any boat .. quite frankly .. the thought of a wash out at any speed due to a faulty msrteering component scares the chit out of me .. i can drive my boat without a hand on the wheel kowing it point n shoot and thats whrere youre going to go , waves tourque load ect . just takes the freaky out of the boat .. one less thing to worry about when youre getting it on .. save n buy it .

Whenever I sell a hydraulic steering system, the customer always calls back and says what a huge difference it makes. One of the best improvements to your boat you can add.

One of the best upgrades I have done. Complete rock solid control. A safety issue for speeds 65 or above IMO.

What others have said. Best money i've spent on the boat, can actually make steering adjustments at low speed.

What kind of boat and how fast would you be running? I agree it makes a huge difference but if you're only running in the 50's or low 60's it won't have as big of an impact as at faster speeds

It is one of the most important things you will purchase for your boat. It will save you from flying out of the boat if your steering fails and it will help in reducing the chim walking at high speeds. I would invest in the full hydraulic system. It is well worth the money. I bought one from Imco and am very happy with it
