I'm in the process of installing a new transom and stringers And was hoping to get some info/ideas. The motor mounts and structure in the center of the hull also need replacing but I was thinking about changing it up. My plan was to eliminate the existing motor mounts and install new mounts to the stringers. To add support I was thinking of using prefab. Foam stringers from the forward bulkhead to the transom. What are your thoughts on the new layout??

I would be concerned about the through bolted engine mounts crushing the composite. I don't think you would have an issue with fully glassed in wood stringers.
I see you have already cut it, but usually wouldn't the transom be fully glassed in, then the outboard stringer glassed to it? That looks kind of weird. Is this an F3? They didn't make the 223 in 84?

The transom is made up of 1 1/2 " + 2 3/4 " pieces. The 2 3/4" pieces were notched so that the stringers would recess part way through the transom locking them together. The inner stringers Witch will hold the motor mounts will be made the same way. This pic shows what I'm talking with the mounts attached to the strin[IMG]

the boat is a formula 3 ls. I was mistaking I thought 223 referred to the length.
