Mercury 496HO Seal for coolant hose to cool fuel
#1
496HO Ser # OWO060289 Is there a way to get just the seal on Mercury part # 22-865208T01 or do I have to get entire hose. Not sure I even need it, but when winterizing boat last fall seal looked like it should be replaced. Just collecting parts today. Thanks

Not thru Merc. possible thru a plumbing supply house.
You have the first Gen of the Gen III cool fuel system. Its good that you are pulling the bracket / nut / 2 hose combo off to drain the cool fuel itself to prevent freeze damage. The Gen III cool fuel has changed 3 times since yours.
First change was - the bracket / nut / hose combo is gone and went to 3/8 - 18 fittings for the 2 hose connections plus hose clamps on the backside of the cool fuel
The next update was a blue drain plug on the back side of the cool fuel - well that did not work because the cool fuel still would not drain all the water out to prevent freeze damage unless u sky high the front of boat / trailer to help it drain.
Next Merc change the blue drain from the back side to the front side - this has been working to drain most of the water out. They kept the3/8 - 18 fitting barbs / hose / hose clamps connection after your design to currently. Your app was a bad design and the bracket would bend plus a lot of times the hose connection would leak upon reassembly.
Also the next problem with the past designs of Gen III cool fuel module was internally they would have paint peeling off in which caused fuel system restrictions thru out.
Merc newest cool fuel is pat # 8M0047215 The older style cool fuel Gen III and yours is NLA. The hose kit for your app is still available but the seals are not. Down the road at some point in time, I can see your hose system not being offered anymore. Current retail price of it is close to 100 bucks. Current retail price of the newest cool fuel is close to 1100 bucks.
I have 5 boats with your style cool fuel system that all are leaking water plus 2 leaking fuel on top of because they were not drained during winterization - froze broke / cracked - but everything else was drained completely. .
There has been some service bulletins about the Gen III cool fuel over years. Here is one off the top of my head for one of the changes. Mercruiser SB 2009-01 if maybe you could find this thru google. Anyways just posting some extra info on top off.
FYI on your app you still need to jack up the front of your boat however to help drain the cool fuel completely when your pull off the bracket / nut / 2 hose combo.

Whats weird is the other engine just has hoses going to fittings. So the cool fuel must have been changed. I put one of the hoses on my parts order, that way I will have it if it leaks.

If you have no blue drain plug in your gen III cool fuel and have the fittings on the backside with just the hoses attached - no bracket / nut combo you have the second gen of the gen III cool fuel. I mentioned this in my post above about there is 4 different versions of this Gen III cool fuel.
One side engine sounds like you have the original design cool fuel and the other side engine sounds like you have the next updated version from the original.
