Not a performance boat but a Formula. What is it worth?

I have been trying to find a Formula Sedan Cruiser (flying bridge model) for a while and came across this ad. Formula only made them for 3 years 79, 80, 81. http://phoenix.craigslist.org/evl/boa/4849216201.html
This is a complete project boat and the guy speaks very bad English so its hard to talk on the phone. Ive been getting info by texts. He is asking $5800 on the trailer. I think it might be the same boat I saw for sale 4 years ago in California. The California guy was asking $2000 for just the boat of $10,000 boat and trailer. I saw a similar boat for sale in California just recently that looked very good condition with newer VP 350 gas and duoprop drives asking $17,000
What do people think? Give me the good, bad and ugly truth.

I would think the running boat with VP power would be the better buy. Condition is everything in an older boat. If you have to add power to this one it is going to be expensive.

Run Forrest RUN! 29 ft flybridge is a terrible idea to begin with.....
Boat is going to be an oddball since it is old and only had a short production run. The seller has omitted pics of the power/drives and judging from the interior pics he is a poor carpenter or Formula built a terrible looking boat interior back then. Seller notes electrical problems now......that could be a big project on its own. This is case of your time and money in the end will be 10X what you could ever sell it for (if you don't replace the power, if you do then it will be 20X+).
I wouldn't take on that project if it was free.....
