The Voyage - Step by step instructions on how to mail order a boat from overseas
#1
First you find a boat...
In my case I picked up a Yuka Racing 25ft Single engine canopied catamaran (Also known as a C3 225 boat)

The price was easy, I just paid asking...
Difficult to negotiate the price when its the only one of its kind for sale in the world at this time.
Step 2 Payment : Just convert the U.S. Dollars to Euros and wire the money to sellers account. In my case I was buy directly from the boat builder, so
I felt very comfortable sending funds to Turkey.
Step 3: Find a shipper - I called many places, spoke with many companys and settled on Trans Over Seas as we work with this company weekly for business stuff.
and can say that Peters and May was DOUBLE the highest quote so if you are using them to ship anything you may want to get another price.
Step 4: Paper work... pretty straight forward. Randy at Trans handled all of it.

Step 5: Loading - I bought a HULL, No rigging or trailer.. so a cradle was made and the boat was squeezed into a container.

Step 6: As we (as a country) don't do much trade with Turkey the ship will be making stops along the way loading and off loading cargo before it lands in the USA.
The ship will land the 24th of April in the USA
Day 1
