Default Painting rubrail

Has anybody painted their rigid vinyl rubrail with vinyl insert? Was thinking I might like to add some color with mine and dont know how well it might hold up? How about the guys that do own boats that had factory painted rubrails? Do they get beat up as much as I might imagine?

Looks good for a very short time then its downhill. Personally I always thought it looked a bit tacky (sorry to those that are considering) to me it looks like a poor attempt at getting around buying new rail (again not trying to slam anyone here). rail should be black, white or bright . . . . Just my two cents

Just would hate to see that kind of effort put in for it look all flaked and chipped in a short time (its inevitable)
