Default Snap On Resto

I started a thread about what I perceived as excellent customer service from SnapOn.

The short version is I sent an email inquiry looking for info re. a toolbox I had recently inherited from my grandfather. I wasn't looking to buy anything and I didn't have a complaint. I thought my email would go in the "take care of this when you run out of things to do" file. I was contacted by phone less than 5 minutes from hitting "send". This was at 7:30 at night.

Someone asked me to post some before/during/after pics of the resto

Sorry about the crappy cell phone shots.

Here's the "pre-resto" pics. I've got to get the tools out and sorted and start cleaning them up & I haven't really been able to do that yet. It's only been a week. He was 100, lived alone, and took care of himself (he'd just bought a new riding lawn mower because he didn't like the job the lawn service did last summer) .

The lock mechanism and rod are missing. I don't know what happened to them but I can just about hear him saying that he wouldn't work with any sunova***** he had to worry about stealing his tools so it makes sense to me why he tore it off if he had a problem with it.

I don't know what year the box is. I was born in 64 and spent a lot of time with my grandparents when I was little & can remember his red toolbox in his garage. Whether it was this on or not I have no idea. I'd like to think it was.

I post more pics as I go.
