I have used a guy in California for the Mercruiser ECMS. I have a 1996 302 efi that I need to program and I can't find anyone yet, just wondering if someone knows... Seems like these engines have fallen to the way side... I know there used to be parts for them and now they are gone... It's a Volvo Penta 5.0fi

this a 5.0 ford MPI - Volvo offer it among some others and it did not use MefI thru Volvo Penta. 1998 was the last year for Ford to provide the marine apps to Volvo and some of the other marine OEM's .
Volvo Penta GM based EFI & MPI used MEFI 1, 3, 4, and in 2004 went to E-Controls ECM's. FYI
Volvo Penta never used MEFI 2 another FYI.

I hear you and really to be honest I already knew the answer to the question. No offense to you at all. Really no one messing with 6 off the top of my head. Currently who is even using MEFI 7 in the marine field not one comes to mind. GM is pushing it with their new GEN engines and direct injection marine engines for whomever to bring them forth.
