Hello everyone. Beehives from what I have been told have some benefits.

They reduce the mass of the valve train, which is better for valve train stability and longevity, a lot easier on parts.

I need to replace my Crane springs. I have three seasons on them and just doing some preseason maintenance on the upper end. I have stock Cane 99896 springs.

They were recommended for the cam that I have but, the Cam sheet shows this to be the recommended spring but with the Crane 99896 springs it would have 483 lbs of open pressure, where the cam specs 460 lbs. That is a bit too much pressure for a hydraulic roller camshaft. Comp Cams recommended 928-16 springs which would have 153lbs seat pressure, and 376 open pressure or 26120-16 beehive springs which have 148 on the seat, and 381 open pressure.

Kind of at a cross roads on which way to go or just buy the same Crane springs again.

Any input would be appreciated.

By the way I have Dart Pro 1 heads with 1.7 Aluminum rockers and Morel roller lifters in my engine right now.

I'm sure you will hear some good suggestions , here is mine . Call PSI valve springs , tell them what you have and they will set you up. They wind about all of the big name brand springs any how. The beehive really hasn't shown its promise yet . Just my .02 .....

The only place I put beehive valve springs is the garbage.

To answer your question, you may be ok with those springs you mentioned depending on what lifters you have. What brand and part number do you have?

After seeing the copious amounts of overspray inside the head, if you are too lazy to mask off your $hit, I lean towards bad assembly in regards to the video.

I agree it looks to me like the retainer was hitting the valve seal. Machinist didn't cut the guide deep enough.

Nice video. NOT Come on man, you can't believe everything you see on the internet. And the RTV around the head bolt bosses. Really? Let me guess. That's what the oil filter is for? Not exactly the same application but i'm running the beehives in my small blocks.
