That I believe is the highest purse pay out at a site in a long time. $70K on the table for the taking. Nice job generating the purse.

You guys did read that u need 6 boat or more in a class for full purse. If less then 6 all the boats in the class split the first place money only.

Let's hope enough of the teams realize they can win some real money. P1 pays $7,000 to winner for the weekend. Glad to see another promotor finally stepping up.

It's not always about the money.

It's definitely not just about the money. It's about the whole picture. Safety, competition, venue, putting on a good show. Fans. Sponsors. The money just helps out. being able to win back some of that money you spend sure helps.

Yes this is a nice purse, but there are so many questions with no answers surrounding all of this, its kinda scarey... I was able to get some answered yesterday but the well written article by Matt concerning lack of info out of Qatar: http://speedonthewater.com/in-the-ne...ers-from-qatar with team managing members in charge of the sanctioning body over the Sarasota race... Does this race have insurance for the offshore division? I see that the pro am classes are not bracketed so being that opgp runs under APBA rules, the APBA rules specify GPS monitoring, then with the points being tabulated doesn't it screw OPA teams that are following the OPA written/APBA backed rules? Well the opgp brackets could be run under the "special event" class I havent seen APBA turn down a dollar yet...The flyer says "no equipment fees" that you need to register at the opgp racer resource section and it states(my class for example) $5500 fee attached to the Concord Agreement so in essence its just a play on words? Yes you have to pay the Concord but there is no such thing as equipment?

My interest is peaked, I love the overall event that Sarasota puts on, I have said for years it needs to be utilized as the template for all race sites..Most importantly, it supports the Suncoast Foundation for kids which I have supported each year I raced there. I got a few of my questions answered yesterday, but I guess I'll hop back on the phone Monday to find out some more definitive answers as "I dont know" doesnt cut it and thats the answers so far for the better part.

I respect the for max purse you have to have 6 boats, hell that just good business, I mean up till about 2 years ago SBI offered a $75,000 purse for each and every race providing there was 8 boats in each class
