ARP head bolts for 525EFI part #

So I called ARP to see what head bolt kit will work on my '04 525EFI and he acted like I was speaking Chinese, the guy was a dick. He said they don't have a kit with a part # for that bolt kit. I told him its a factory Mercruiser motor and he said I have to measure my heights and call him back. I replied "so nobody has ever ordered head bolts from you guys before?" So anyway Im looking for a part # for a head bolt kit for a stock '04 525, alright GO!

The Edelbrock heads use 5 longer outer bolts like a Brodix, Canfield, etc. So, you will need a #135-3609 ( 6 point head) or 135-3709 (12 point)

Are you sure it's not the same guy that works in the tech department for every performance parts vendor?

So I received the above mentioned bolts (135-3609) from ARP today and out of the 14 intermediate sized bolts (7 per side) 4 are 1/4" shorter (2 each side). 10 intermediate sized ones come in at 4" which matches factory then there are 4 at 3 3/4". Just wondering if this is correct and where the shorter ones should go or do I have to order again.

The 4 shorter ones go in the dowel pin holes on the ends of the head.

So why are they shorter or why are the original ones longer? How much thread engagement is considered adequate? Just curious
