Hello,
I'm in the process of replacing my Saginaw steering actuator with the newer style Brazil unit. I've ordered a new actuator and new hoses and all pats have arrived. What I didn't expect was the quick connect fittings on the new actuator. I knew that these existed but I thought I was getting an actuator that didn't include quick connects. My question is can the two quick connects be removed and the new hoses connected directly to the actuator or is the thread in the actuator different for one style of hose vs the other?

Merc sells ALL actuators with quick connect installed.. everything current for the past X amount years has been quick connect installed for the actuators. These actuators comes to MERC that way from a company in Brazil.
You can take out the quick connect fittings and screw in your old line fittings. Have done a zillion of these and a zillion times. If your fittings will not fit / screw into - then Merc changed these up THIS YEAR. I did 3 last year about 10 months ago and they all still screwed in after removing the quick connect fittings. Again that was 10 months ago and I have not done any this year. last year was last year - this year let me know if it still works. I bet it does as merc did not change anything with this compared to last year.

Good to know currently for the heads up on my side to that they still screw in. Also listen there is more to than just throw on the new actuator. - make sure the complete system has no water mixed with fluid, make sure no debris , and I am including the all lines, pwr steering cooler and the steering pump / reservoir also prime the system with pwr steering fluid - before start up and fill res to the brim so it is not pumped dry after start up.
These actuators - can fail for a reason other than being worn out so you have to find the cause , they hate water - air , ran dry and dirt, and internal corrosion passing thru them. It is best to drain all the old fluid out of everything and even use compress air for cleaning to but lightly compressed air. Just saying.
Its pouring rain here I have nothing else to do but hang up here - bored as hell
