I am looking at painting or powder coating some or all of my 800 cfm holley.
For sure I would like to do the bowls and most likely the metering blocks.
Witch would you do? If paint what type so fuel (gas) would not effect?
I am concerned about doing the body, is there any air bleeds etc, to watch out for?

I sprayed mine with paint I had from building a nitro model boat any hobby shop that sells nitro cars ect. Should have it.

I've jazzed up some carbs while rebuilding them. First set here were some old nickersons. Hardest part here, was that the carbs had about 5 layers of paint on them, and getting all the old paint off, was a bitttch. I removed all the old paint from the main bodies and metering blocks, and focused on restoring the linkage back to its gold color. The gold was in good shape under all the old paint. Then installed new holley aluminum bowls with the large sight glasses. I used gloss black engine paint.

Second set was my holley 850's. I bought them used, and wanted to spruce them up while rebuilding them. Used red engine paint. Eventually, a couple years later, I switched them to the aluminum holley bowls as well. The large sight glasses are nice to have.

If I was going to do it all over again, I would have used a basic automotive paint, with a spray gun. My buddy who painted my blowers for me, used a basic cheap ppg omni paint, and it is tolerant to gas, oil, etc. They clean right up.

Used spray can Duplicolor engine enamel on my last HP750. As with everything, prep and clean is the key.
A lot of time masking the small items.

When you are using auto paint how are you prepping the surface, are you priming and if so with what?
I had an aerosol can of "Torch Red Corvette" (#510?) single stage paint mixed for me not long ago. Will that hold up to the gasoline?
Nobody powder coated these items?

FXR, That is the same line I just bought new on OSO $45 to my door. Now I need to get my crusty looking carb worthy of such jewelry. Needs complete rebuild and a good bath and paint.
