Default My Nomination for Stupidest Father of the Year

My nomination goes to the father who thought it was a good idea to pull four small children on an inflatable tube up the channel up the Anclote River on Saturday afternoon. He had about 5 boats jammed up behind him while pulling at 10-12 mph in center of channel and then towed at idle speed in no wake zone by the park while having a cigar and beer. F'ing clueless when I'm worrying more about the kids than he is, wonder if he takes them skateboarding in the middle of U S 19. I do some dumb stuff myself but this guy's name must be Stu Pidasso' unless he is just trying to off the family.

Tried to get Stu's attention several times but for some reason everyone but him could hear me verbalizing my thoughts...

LET THE SEASON BEGIN-- Man have you hit my hot button with your post.

Oh do I feel your pain and the lack of "safety" for this guys kids. I'm really annoyed by the lack of people's awareness of their surroundings. Everyone has this belief that they are entitled to do whatever they want and when - regardless who they may effect. Just yesterday I was out at our summer home - out on the lake. My daughter and I are driving around at maybe 40 mph- really having a nice time- music is playing - boat is running perfectly!!. There is virtually no one on the lake . Two IDIOT kayaker's are out on the lake -- guess what - they see me coming and proceed to paddle right in my path -- because according to rules of the water - they have a right to do it.

Also there was one guy in a very low riding john boat - green camo -- because he was so low on the water level he blended into the shoreline -- Lucky I wasn't going like a bat out of heck and was able to go around -- of course it was my fault -- based on his hand - or should I say finger- he wasn't too happy. Instead of giving him the finger back -- I'm trying a new approach -- I gave him my whole hand!!!

And of course next week, Memorial Day, every brain dead red neck will be out in anything that floats with kids in tow. The booze will flow beyond anything reasonable - couple that with speed and disaster will happen --and responsible boaters will suffer. I absolutely LOVE the water and boating. But to be honest I try to do all my boating during the week when the idiots are not around.

When I see idiots like you describe and the DNR is around I stop and tell them about the issue. Sometimes they approach the boats but most often not - if the rules say they can do it - they haven't done anything wrong and the DNR won't stop them.

My first thought was to look for the next FWC or MP boat but figured they couldn't do much without seeing and that stupidity is legal. http://

First photo is about 100 yards from the spot where a local Commisioner was killed in a boating accident a few years ago. Pretty congested area with a lot of traffic from Anclote Park and the many marinas up river. Usually most of the traffic is locals and everyone is courteous. Stu wasn't trying to be discourteous he just wasn't thinking so if you recognize Stu from these pics please ask him to try using his brain.

Little bit of a derail. I boat in the innercoastal between Atlantic City and Cape May. What are your thought about fisherman right in the middle of the channel or just outside and getting pissed that i cruise through? I grt flipped the bird multiple times a year. No hot rodding, cruise speed of about 35mph.

They can go to hell. Don't play on the train tracks unless you're willing to get run over.

Try the channel to the Barnegat Inlet on some weekend. It is narrow, twisty, and very shallow just outside, and jam packed with fishing boats both anchored and drifting. Have had issues with the Coasties several times regarding "lack of safety" when questioned about going through on plane. My reply, ummm. isnt illegal to hinder navigational channels and obscure navigational aids? Yeah, thats what I thought.

I hope they were hassling every boat on plane and not only the go-fast crowd.
