In the Superboat Unlimited class, Envy reportedly has scratched with a mechanical issue. In the Superboat Vee class, Absolutely Not, though registered for the race, did not make it to Cocoa Beach.

I spoke with Envy owner/driver Chris Cox moments ago. Before testing yesterday—following a week of successful testing on Georgia's Lake Lanier—they found metal shavings in the oil for the cat's starboard BPM drive. Rather than racing with a known problem, they opted to withdraw and begin preparing for the July 4 weekend race in Marathon, Fla. Cox is understandably disappointed but it good spirits. "That's racing," he said. "At this level, none of these parts are off the shelf."
