Default Speed Record

Did I hear that the Lucas Oil team is going to attempt the speed record? I thought I heard that during the live stream of the race.

I read something where they said that they think 200 is doable in a V..

SOTW...

http://speedonthewater.com/in-the-ne...ew-safety-pods

"We're trying to create a V-hull with the advantages of a catamaran but without the safety disadvantages of a cat," Hook said. "Our main goal is stability—high-speed stability. One thing we would like to do is go after the V-bottom speed record. I don't think 200 mph is out of the question in a monohull.

The commentators said they're going to go after the speed record that is now held by the outerlimits as we'll know. Mentioned using 1650s for power.

It would be cool to see. Twisted metal shredded them yesterday.

That too. Even with the 1 minute penalty they still won by more than a minute. That boat was Rollin!

What does Lucas Oil run speedwise with 1075's in it? OL SV43 runs what with 1075's, 150-155 mph? Should give an in the ballpark comparison for hull efficiency, and what 1650's will do knowing what the SV 43 did.

I'm not really sure what they're capable of speed wise now but, 155 seems high to me. I believe that hull is heavy. Been wrong before though. Someone on here is sure to have a better idea.

If Lucas oil has Mercury 1075 SCI how did it run in the extreme class. Didn't the class rules change to carb non efi to keep the cost down.
