Default Single Engine Velocity 320

Does anyone here have a single engine 320? I had seen one for sale some time back and it intrigued me, I was wondering how they ran? I like the idea of a single 1000hp rather than twin 500's.

I believe it had a Merc 700hp in it and was owned by someone on OSO.

Haven't ever seen a report on how it ran with the single 700. Do you think a single would dance more when running on the edge of pad?

There's an older single 320 that's on the upper Chesapeake Bay and then there was the 322 that was built with the 700 and NXT drive. Want to say the 700 boat ran close to 90. It was for sale not too long ago and they changed the green to gray.

Kenny would probably know more because I believe he had the listing on the 322.

The 320 is a cut down 41 where the 322 is the original 30 hull design.

This post sparks my interest as in we have decided to keep the boat and eventually try to race her, but was thinking about switching her to a big single and racing in the 80mph class against 26-30' boats rather than keeping the twins and racing in the 90mph class with 36-38' big powered boats. Didn't know if weight or balance would be an issue with the old 30' hull?

There where 3 that I know of. The John deer boat single 700 NXT ran mid 80 mph. Then there where 2 yellow ones that went to Europe. The one is back up in Canada with a 800 and a no. 5 drive runs high 80's. Bruce Baker from Express Eng built that boat. They all run real well in rough water.

There was one that had a pare of stroker sb chevys in it that ran like a raped ape. I would rather have 2 small blocks than 1 big block.

So what is the difference in the hull and pad between the two?

I've heard that the 30' hull had a larger pad which made it a better handling boat than the 320. Steve Stepp told me that the 320 hull was slightly faster.

Our current hull ran 108 mph with twin 575hp and bravos. I'm afraid of stepping down to one single around 800-900hp and only running 80mph. have to check weight I suppose.
