Default Broken Key for Cuddy - 29 outlaw

My friend left the keys in the cuddy door this weekend and after hitting a couple waves, the door slammed open and bent the key. When he tried to remove the key, it snapped off in the lock. Luckily, we were able to remove the snapped off key.

My question is, how would I go about getting a new cuddy key? Do I have to replace the whole lock assembly?

Take the 2 parts to a decent locksmith/key maker. I have had the kid at Ace make new keys from broken ones before.

unfortunately the ignition key isn't the same.

I will attempt to take the two pieces of the key to an ace hardware.

I just went through this a week ago. Do you have a number on the key? I was able to order one online for a few bucks.

You can also take the whole lock/latch assembly out of the door - should be one bolt and it slides right out of the door. Then take it to any locksmith shop. They'll make you two new keys for probably $15.

this has happened to me a "couple of times" - you are 100% correct - take the lock assembly out and bring it to a lock smith and in a few minutes you will have new keys-- it's kinda scary how quick they can get into a lock.

all the best

You can also order a new lock assembly look up SeaDog or cabin locks on a marine website and match what you have. They are fairly standard. I think I paid about $15 for a whole new lock with 2 keys. Very easy install.
