Hey guys,
I have taken on a new project. I just purchased one of the last Port Edgewood banana 24s.(hull 102)
She is literally a big kit, the hull has the stringers installed, and the all of the glass work for he cabin has been done, top deck is rough cut to match. All of the hatches are there along with the fuel tank dash box, and supposedly the teak door and trim. Although I did not see it when I was looking at the boat. I have been assured that it will be there when I pick her up.
My question is this-
I need the measurements for the bow eye so I can set my trailer as close as I can before I go pick her up. I am picking my trailer up this weekend, Its not a bunker type trailer, the ramp I will be launching from has a shallow pitch so I am going with rollers. (for now)
She has her bow eye is in place.
What is the measure from the bow eye to the transom?
Thanks in advance guys!!
Tom

if your asking me if I picked up the black one Boatowner, yes I did. I will e there fathersday weekend for pick up. I am picking up a trailer this weekend and going to try and get it as close as I can before next weekend when I pick it up.
I was told by the rep who is seeling to me, that her overall length is 23'10" bow to tramsom. I measured three of my customers boats bows, they are between 18" and 24" from the eyeloop to the tip of the bow. Either measusrement will work for me. I will set the height of the winch onsite. I think I can get the legth within a 6" before I hit the road to pick her up.
thanks again guys

good luck with that .... it will be a fun project. do you know what you will be doing for power? or too far off at this point... Keep air dog in the loop as he know a whole bunch about these boats. He helped me figure out some issue with both my 1990 and 2008 Banana.

from what I have been told, the boat has never been out doors until the last week or so, and she is shrink wrapped. so there has not een a chance to get water into the boat yet. When I looked at the boat, I took care to pay attention to the glass work. I didnt notice any air bubbles or voids in the hull layup. I climbed into the engine bay, and into the cabin. The stringers looked to be laid up nicely, and the cabin is glassed in along the V-berth looked really nice too. again I paid attention to look for inferior glass work.
I will a following Pasta's lead. I will web the bottom of the boat. I do a fair amount of glass work, and I am very particular. I will be vacuum bagging anywhere I can to get a better and stronger layup as well.
When she comes home. I plan on pulling the top cap and really scrutinizing the entire layup of the boat, followed by fixing or changing anything I deem to be changed.
As for power, I was thinking of twin OBs, nothing too extreme though 200-250s older model 2 strokes for now, I have a budget to stick to. I want to modify the rear of the cockpit area like some of the newer layouts so there is some more room.
Lightspeed- What years were your Bananas? or anyone else for that matter, were some years worse than other for de-lam?
thanks

That boat is fine I've looked it up and down and never saw any defects. If if bought that one I. Was thinking of the new 400 from Mercury with a porta bracket 17"setback. It will fly if you go with twins my 2008 had a 250 ho evinrude it was fantastic. Ran 63 mph with twins you. Are in the 70s

SP123, you have looked at my boat at one point? Cool!
I want the twins, but I may do a big single. I dont need to have a million mile per hour boat, I just want something quick but still usable and reliable. I dont plan on using her too much, only a handful of times a season. I spend the weekends on the big boat, and the wifey likes the creature comforts that the big boat has to offer. The Banana will spend most of her time on a trailer, all covered up, then launched for a quick blast every once and a while
