Default What Temp Sender is This?

Can someone help me out here.....

It is an oil temp sender that is in my remote oil filter housing. This is hooked to a Gaffrig gauge where the first mark reads 140 (I can't remember if it goes to 320 or 280)

Markings on the side are 96-23 and SS-OT

don't know the markings but I would test it in the boat w/ a ir temp gauge and some boiling water.ir will show close to 212° and see what your gauge says.or call gaffrig and ask them direct.

It looks like Gaffrig only has one 1/4" oil temp sender on their website. Are the gauges that smart that they can read the resistance and move the needle the correct amount? Regardless of whether you have a gauge that reads 100-320 or 140-280?
