How long until first oil change after breaking in engine? Engine is being broken-in in boat not on dyno

Cut open the filters and look for excessive wear. If no issues change the oil at your regular # hours. We just change the oil and filters annually and get the oil analyzed annually. Max #hours?....lots of variables but for us is isn't enough $ to look for the edge.

What is your set up flat tappet cam / lifters or a roller set up ?

Most OEM stock Marine or OEM marine reman engines list around the 20 hour mark.

I would change at 10 hrs.. Really how much is an oil change gonna cost ya.
