I can see the OEM packaging issues and to a lesser degree running a high pressure fuel line across the bilge, but am I missing something obvious here? It just seems that it would eliminate any vapor lock issues (I know you boys up north don't see that a lot). It would also be one heck of a lot easier to service or change; changing most merc efi fuel pumps should automatically give you ASE/MMA certification. I'm just surprised a few more people haven't tinkered with this.(slow at work day)

True, but why isn't it done- in the aftermarket sense that is? I see everything you can think of re-rigged, modified, etc on this forum that takes a lot more talent than hooking up an in tank fuel system. It just seems to be an obvious upgrade, that's why I keep wondering if I'm missing something.

there is many marine engines that use in the tank full pump cells with no external full pumps nor cool fuel systems. The new Indmar Ford raptor marine engine is one of them also Mastercraft for many years has done this as well.
