Default MSD ready to run limiters issues??? anyone?

Finally goit all the bugs worked out besides one, the new engines just stop and hit a wall at 5200, cammed for 6000, old engines went 5500 all day long last season...air fuels in mid 12's from 1000-5200, then go rich and stop at 5200 like limiters coming in....

I have the ready to run distributors and you set limiters by a ground switch at half desired rpm, set at 5800, then trying to determine issue yesterday I set at 6500, but still seems like a ignition issue to me....anyone ever use these? maybe they are stuck at 5200 limit somehow? I need to see how I can verify ignition at that rpm.... find flat water and run it and use a timing light with a buddy is only thing I can think of...??

new engines, no I did not dyno them, but they run PERFECT and super strong then just stop... no lag nothing... they are 540.s approx. 675 hp I cannot see this being mechanical issue, maybe but I doubt that.. like I said it run PERFECT the whole rest of the way....

I am going to call MSD today and see how I can default these things maybe, also I locked them out this season that's the only other thing I changed.. and of course both engines doing it so I cannot swap parts around....

Well, a lot of times when there is a misfire or lack of energy going to the plugs, the AF meter will show lean as fuel isn't being burnt.

Did you have same distributors (and rest of ignitions sytem) on these as you did past motors ?

A slight sidetrack with no relevance to being 'rich' - do you have the same props on as before ?

WHen you turn the key to on (engine off) what does the tach jump to ?

I have not used these dist's, and just read the instructions to familarize myself with them at:
http://www.msdignition.com/WorkArea/...id=15032386262

MSD states that when key is turned to on (engine off) the tach's will quickly show (for 2 seconds) what your rpm limit is set to.

Same distributors but I never set limiters last year and ran the springs for timing, this year I set limiters and locked them out, same props also 25 mirage plus

With old engines it went 73.7@5500
Yesterday 70@5200...

I don't see it being issue with mecahinicalmof engines, I guess it's possible but man these should be making well over the 550 ho a 70mph mistress would be.... Old engines were 598 hp and went 73.....

I plan to call msd to ask also... I would think airfield would show rich not lean if you kidding spark

All vitals look good also fuel pressure and airflow to hatch is good, I even ran with hatch open done to be sure made no difference

I've seen some weird issues with the MSD ready to run distributors. I was helping a guy set one up and he had 2 that were bad out of the box. You couldn't get the limiter set properly.
