There is outside related factors that can cause an IAC to fail and or get stuck in position no matter if it is the greatest one ever made.
you can double the life most of the times with proper maintenance keeping the IAC alive.

So cleaning the muffler and flame arrestor on a regular basis will keep a Iac valve alive for a long time?

read post 13 in the link below. I have plastered this up here for a while now. I have customers with 12, 10 year old IAC's and all the way down that never had a IAC failure - maintenance is a big key to longevity.
Read post 13 and to add proper steady voltage from proper clean connections and proper clean battery connections and a strong battery & clean tight connections will always add life to any electrical component. Also keep moisture away and any overheat conditions away
electrical resistance is a killer to

Good info BUP guys. That's me in the post above you guys searched for. My IAC muffler at that time was black as a chunk of coal as was the IAC muffler cavity was similar. I used a Napa Echlin IAC, removed and fully cleaned TB and FA. Replaced muffler, No problems since. Plan on replacing the muffler as needed in the future.
