Default 29 outlaw speed?

I just bought 1998 29 outlaw with twin 525 mercs, xr uppers and imco shorty lowers. Haven't measure prop shaft high yet, but they are quite high. Props are 30 pitch bravo 1. What you guys think the top speed might be? Haven't run she yet, must do some repairs before. Engines have edelbrock 6155 marine aluminium heads, are they stock on 525?

525 SC's or 525 efi's ?...... efi's do have edelbrock heads

Efi's didn't come out til 03'

I had a 98 w/hp500's, it had 30 pitch props....it ran low 80's

There isn't much difference performance wise between the 525 sc and the hp500

The efi has a bit more steam than the hp500

I think they are 525EFI long blocks with brodix intake and holley 800 carbs. Maybe not stock engines. How much shorty lower increase speed? Few mph benefits?

Depends on if the drives were deep to begin with.....mine were high enough that 3 blades didn'twork well.

The xr uppers will consume more power than the STD helical gears used in the STD bravo
( Its said about a MPH)

if you're turning those 30's a little over 5k rpm, you should be in that low 80 MPH range

i try to get mid 80's. I need to find out the guy who have done engines. Yesterday I do some test starts and engines sound they have quite healthy cams inside. I bought the boat cheap because water goes to engine oil, it was reversion problem. There is now dry tails so I can do some test drive. JaayTee, have you ever tested spin props in or out?

On my brothers Skater, going with props turning in got a few MPH out of it, but there was a bit less control at the docks. Not sure if this same trait would apply to a V hull or not....

I tried the "in" once and it was worth about .1 mph....not really worth it for the crappy docking maneuverability that goes with it.

On my 33, "in" is worth a little over 1 mph
