Default Trim limit senders..

One of my trim limit senders is not working. I know how to take them apart and revive them. My question is, I have mechanical trim indicators so why do I need limit switches ?? How do I bypass them ?? Cut the wire and connect them together ???

My current and previous boats don't have trim limits. I don't think they are necessary. Although, my current boat if you raise the drive too high. it will hit the bottom of the swim platform. Not sure how to bypass them.

the limit switch should be plugged into the engine harness. if you unplug the switch and connect the two wire in the harness together then it is by passed.

also for Dave M, if the drive goes up too much you can take the trim cylinder apart and add spacers to the shaft to limit the up travel.

And FYI for whomever - Mercruiser has dummy senders as well if you always wanted to install something just for looks. Also the trim and limit senders have a rubber plug joint built into the wiring that is installed thru the transom plus it keeps water out. You can plug that hole and or leave the senders in - unhook the wires or use the dummy senders. Just however.

So disconnecting them altogether will work ? Don't need to bypass them ??

you can disconnect the limit switch but for the trim to work you have to connect the two wires on the harness together, they should have bullet connectors on them and plug together.
