Anyone with a 496HO with a bravo one drive check with your dealer.Early production engines were sent out with bravo 1 drives which will not hold up.My drive blewup and a friend of mine has blown 2 bravo ones. Both of us justed received bravo one x drives for our boats. My thanks to Mercury for standing behind thier product. I will not hesitate to buy their products again.

My drive was 3 days out of warranty when it blew. At first they did'nt want to replaced it under warranty, it cost $5800.00 cdn. to replace the upper drive. I sent the broken to drive to mercury canada with a nice letter and they got back to me and said the wrong drive was put on the motor, it should of had the x drive.I brought the bravo 1 back and they gave me the x drive and credited my card. With the good news I just orderd a new F7 arctic cat snowmobile.Ps it happen late june and I just got the drive exchanged sept 12th.

I ordered my 496HO's with the X drives, it was only a $180 upgrade in Australia, bigger unijoints & internals generally,
I thinkthey were initially designed for a diesel engine (big torque)
7500lb 32' boat, 45 hours & sweeeeeeeeeeeeet !!!!
