Default 99 - Scarab 33 AVS - Fuel pump will not energize??

The port-side motor has a fully charged battery (checked it twice), the engine will crank over very easy, however the volt gauge on the cluster does not read any volts. The fuel pump does not energize either and therefor the motor will not start. Ran fine all day on Saturday until my buddy accidently pulled out the tether on our way back from the sand bar. I must have a bad ground or something that will not allow the fuel system to energize of the volt meter to read properly????

Any ideas? I am going to start tracing wires tonight. I have a big weekend planned with the boat and I have to get this fixed by Saturday morning.

Thank you for any help at all

Did you check the kill switch itself? Check micro fuse for the fuel pump/fuel pump relay?

I can careless what boat but to get any help correctly at least tell us what motors / make and models and year models also how about some engine serial #'s

Not to sound like a dick but if I called the auto parts store and asked for starter and the parts guy says to me what application and I tell him " yeah I need starter for a Chevy " - If I was the parts guy I would hang up the phone. Just saying but please take the guess work out for the help that you are asking for so that we can give you the correct help needed.

How come posters do this all the time up here. I am so baffled by this. just saying and a huge waste of time for everyone including the OP - NO offense, Hopefully a point well taken.

A friend of mine had the same thing happen on his 33 AVS...lanyard got pulled and wouldn't run.

What we found was that ( for reasons unknown to us) Wellcraft installed a diode in line on a wire in the harness that runs to the ignition coil,
the diode was burnt out.

Open up the convoluted casing on the harness to the coil and you'll find it.

^^^^ that had to be a Volvo app is that correct ? If not what was the engine set up and by whom ? depending on the ignition & ignition coil - some coils required an external resistor.

Nope, 502mpi

It didn't make any sense to me.....the only way I found it was by looking for voltage at the coil and working backwards, if I would have had a wiring schematic of the boat, it's purpose might have made sense.....it wasn't something from merc....I imagine
It was done by wellcraft
