who runs locked timing in their blower/turbo motors?

I posted my carb problem question on PerformanceBoats.com forum because it seems like there are quite a few guys over there running old Gale Banks turbo systems. A couple people suggested that instead of running 38 degrees total timing and pulling 1 degree per 1 lb of boost to instead run my timing locked at 30 degrees. Carson Brummett apparently does not like the MSD boost timing retard boxes and likes locked timing. I'm not doubting the man, but I wonder if it is still applicable for a heavy offshore boat. A lot of the guys that are running turbos over there have small jet boats that rev up pretty quick. How many people run locked timing over here?

As I stated to you prior, the old boost retard boxes of the past from MSD did not recommend using them on Marine application as in being into boost retard for extended time. They were meant for cars that would only go into boost momentary Now they have new stuff that you can do the marine thing with. The problem in the past was the rotor would not phase correct and could ark to the next cap lug.
