Curious why 200's not allowed. Talked with GB over the weekend in Port Huron and he laid down a pretty convincing argument to go to 200's.

Thanks, Frank. Got to admit that I felt behind the curve after Michigan City as the people I spoke to in the class didn't mention anything. But you know, I don't recall directly asking how the meeting went ... sometimes, you have to make a point to ask.

Anyway, I guess we have a bit more clarity. And Rick was a great interview.

Main reason from the teams i spoke to is that they dont want to go slower. I guess it's all relative and doesn't really matter if everyone's running slower but the general consensus of the teams that I spoke to if they want to go faster.

I switched from the 2.5s to the 300xs on my 28 Skater and they work great! Good power , balance and seem to have more mid range torque. It's a pleasure boat now but I did race stock class in 1993, 94. Long as they don't break it seems to be a great motor for stock class. Not manually mixing oil in the fuel and idling better is handy as well. I do however miss the pissed off bubble bees sound lol

So as technology increases they want racers to go slower, yep that's good for the spectators, hard enough to keep a crowd......Hp is the name of the game, speed is in for sure.........................

Some of the racers aren't so worried about going slower, some of us already do, lol. But the ease of availability, cost, reliability, and the fact that you can bolt the 200xs right to the boat and go racing. I know a lot of people love the class but so many have no idea of what all goes into it..... The class has quickly escalated from a less than 100k used boat class to a 300k new boat class.

Does anyone remember the demise of OPEN class in the US when it came down to 2 boats left Alcone and Drambuie which led to the advent of SUPERCAT and the class went from 2 boats to 15 in 1 year as the "PREMIERE CLASS" slowed down 30 MPH? The fans din't seem to mind the "STEP BACK" in technology in motors when it added more competition.
