25ft Canopied race boat that would be a fun poker run boat also.

Boat, trailer, new 225 HO Etec and rigging work out to 58k and change.
Of course I'm forgetting something and the cost does not include freight or labor as
most racers will build them out themselves.

Would make a really affordable, safe and fast spec class in OPA..

Any interest?

Great concept, but I think 100 mph is way to fast and dangerous to run a 25 ft boat. If you put smaller power u could also make the package more affordable. I think you would have any issue with a race orgin. to bite on a 100 mph 25ft boat, due to insurance issues.

I respectfully disagree. I run close to 100 every weekend in an open cockpit cat for fun and have been for almost a decade safely. As I'm sure you know you have to know you and you hulls limitations. Then again I have nothing to live for other than running in the rough for fun every time the winds kick up some 2' to 3' foot chop. It's all my 25 Talon can handle. Can you get insurance as a racer while out on the course? I have never inquired.
As to lower power options they haul a$$ with a 225 rude. I'm with you Rick. You need to get back down to SC when it freezes over in the great white north I want to run it. Spark has another insane 10' zap cat that scares the hell out of me as its shorter than the one you bought from him. He's putting together another RR/ Euro style Vicious that he and Taggue built. I'm stoked to run that thing and may buy it for an evening thrill ride.

Take care Bob

Rick,
I know you love the ETec's and for good reason and yes we have discussed the great idea of Super Stock with 2 motors and Single Stock with 1, however wouldnt it make more sense to have the same motor that Super Stock votes for which makes tech easier and more cost effective, more importantly allows Mercury to discontinue it and destroy the class like they did with F1, F2 and has the current Super Stock and OPA SVL in total turmoil?

Maybe a nice addition to the P1 circuit? They are already running the Etecs on the Panther boats. And if need, you could always place a speed limit on the class. 90-95 limit on similar layouts as the P1 series would be exciting to watch, that's for sure.

They allow Mercury motors in C3/225, along with evinrudes, yamaha, hondas and Suzukis.. and I'm currently running a Mercury 200xs on my personal race boat. But most teams elect to run the E-Tec H.O. because Evinrude will stand behind them with a warranty even under race conditions.

@ Xtremeracing - The 100mph speeds are in perfect conditions and as you stated these boats are little and even at St Clair in the 2/3ft chop it was difficult to get to 85mph with the prop in the air. I would expect these to race between 85/90mph in average conditions and slower in bigger ocean water.

Would it cost more, or less if the hulls where built in the US?

You have beeen in the boat I haven't, but as a racer u know bad sh$t can happen quick and at those speeds is anyone sure the lid will hold up and save someones life. I found out the hard way in KW last yr in turn 2 when we went over and had a canopy failure. I hope no one is ever in that situation if wasn't a good feeling. Running a boat down the river or ocean at a 100 isnt an issue racing you need to turn hard and fast race boats don't flip in the straight aways. Just my opion.... Safety first.
I would think 80 would be a great target speed for the class, great concept and a need for a class like that.
