Default help me choose a hull!

I am looking for a project hull that at the completion must meet these requirements.

The boat will be used mostly for tournament spearfishing on the gulf coast of Florida.

- Must cruise at 30 knots loaded with twin 300 bracketed outboards or less hp

- Must be able to carry roughly 5k lbs in gear, fish, ice

- Must be long enough to sleep 4 adults up front and still have around 80 sqft back deck.

My plan is to start with a mostly clean open hull and build it the way I want. I would prefer a beam of 9' or more but will consider all.

I have been looking at the 31' Excaliburs and look forward to hearing your opinions on that and any other hull that would fit my needs.

Thanks
James

Ok, I am a complete novice when it comes to racing hulls so help me out with the specs on that hull? LOA , beam, dey weight. Do you think twin 300s would push it ok?

When you say "cheap, cheap, cheap" do you mean cheap or inexpensive to purchase?

Thanks!

He means inexpensive to purchase. That 40 hawk was restored circa 2005 and has received lots of love over the years. Large cockpit especially if you bolt OBs on the back. Large cabin to do what you want. This is your boat IMO. I've spent a bit of time in and around it while it was based in Texas.

I guess its time to find a cheap 40 Excalibur. Should 600hp of outboards get me the speed I want? What is the beam on the 40?
